TUMPAT: A father and daughter were killed in an accident at Jalan Chabang Empat, here, this morning.

In the 9.30am incident, Mohamad Khairani Mat Rani, 30, was killed after his motorcycle he was riding was hit by a four-wheel drive, before being crushed by another vehicle.

His eldest daughter Nurul Anisya Adriana, 7, also died after being thrown away, following the impact of the crash.

Khairani and his wife Nurul Hasliza Mohd Fauzi, 24, together with their children; Anisya and two-year-old Hakim Daniel were riding a Yamaha Ego motorcycle to buy ‘nasi berlauk’.

“I live in Johor and just returned here last night with my wife and baby boy. This morning I saw Mirul (Khairani) going out to buy breakfast with his wife and two children and before leaving, he smiled at me.

“I did not expect it to be the last smile of his,” he said when met at the Hospital Tumpat Forensics Unit today.

Azmi said he got to know about the incident and the seriousness of Khairani’s injuries.

He said a few days before, his brother who worked as ‘tukang rumah’ contacted him via WhatsApp and asked if he would return home.

“He said ‘aku tunggu mu balik’ (I’ll wait for your return), but I did not feel anything then. Last night, we talked like usual and he was happy entertaining my three-month-old baby.”

He said both Khairani and his daughter will be buried at Kampung Bechah Resak Muslim Cemetery after the post-mortem.

Khairani’s wife and their youngest are being treated at Raja Perempuan Zainab II (HRPZ II) Hospital and are suffering from serious injuries.

Tumpat Police District chief Assistant Commissioner Amran Dolah confirmed the incident and investigations are ongoing.
