Media And Team LZJ Resolve Issues In Closed-Door Meeting

HANGZHOU: Several members of the media, covering the Asian Games here, were invited to a closed-door meeting on Tuesday to address a recent issue involving men’s singles shuttler Lee Zii Jia.

Chef de Mission for the Malaysian contingent, Datuk Chong Kim Fatt took the initiative to coordinate the meeting between Team LZJ’s manager, Lee Zii Yii, and the journalists.

The aim was to resolve the issues related to the incident at the Binjiang Gymnasium mixed zone last Thursday, which had triggered a misunderstanding between both parties.

In a statement released by the Olympic Council of Malaysia (OCM), it was noted that Team LZJ and the journalists have cleared the air and shall endeavour to move forward for the betterment of the Malaysian contingent.

Zii Jia advanced to the second round of the individual event on Tuesday after defeating Timor Leste’s Mourinho Gusmao de Jesus 21-0, 21-7.

Zii Jia is expected to face reigning world champion Kunlavut Vitidsarn of Thailand in the next round.
