DUNGUN – Two sisters, Khaulah Athifah Idris, 8, and Ulya Adilah , 6, have no fear as they navigate and ride the waves while surfing.

Their courage and skills had caught the attention of netizens when pictures and videos of their stunts in the sea were shared on TikTok.

The girls’ father, Idris Mustaffa, 35, was responsible in training and supporting the two sisters in trying out the water sport two years ago.

“I would bring them to the beaches and swimming pools since the girls were 1-year-old. I wanted them to feel comfortable in water. My initial intention was to teach the girls how to swim.

“But, two years ago, I started water surfing and I brought my daughters along to train them. Now, they can ride the wave well,” he told Harian Metro.

He adding that he would train the girls on one-to-one sessions and not simultaneously.

Idris said he and his two girls would bring their surfboard to several locations, usually to Pantai Teluk Lipat, Tanjung Jara and Pantai Teluk Kalung.

“My wife, Nik Solehah Mujahidah, has no issues about me bringing the girls along for surfing. She has been very supportive. If one of them is undergoing a training session with me, she will helps to look after our daughters.”

Idris also said there were none on any harrowing experiences.

“Initially, the girls were afraid when they first started and experiencing such fear also applies to us adults. This sport, however, teaches one to be brave, confident, and unafraid to make decisions.

“It also teaches us to have a good balance and a surfer must have good focus too.

“These are the values that I want to inculcate in Aula and Ulya on top of seeing them progressing well in this (water) sport,” he said.
